Brendan attended the Simple Steps for Starting Your Business series in Spring 2024. It was here that he met SCORE certified mentor John McCarthy.
Through SCORE’s mentoring, Luka-X refined their business strategy, expanded their market reach, and strengthened their operational foundation. They reviewed partnership agreements, sales strategies and marketing plans. Today, Luka-X continues to pioneer new solutions, redefining what’s possible in industrial X-ray technology—one inspection at a time.
In tandem with one-on-one mentoring, Brendan joined the chapter’s quarterly Peer Connect social networking group. Here he met with other SCORE mentors and clients to develop valuable B2B networking relationships and learn fresh perspectives and ideas for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
I attended SCORE's Simple Steps Program in 2024 and thought it was going to be a simple self-help type of program. I was completely wrong. As the owner of two companies - one seven years old and the other brand new - when I attended Simple Steps I was very surprised and impressed. First, the volunteers were very helpful, knowledgable, friendly, and fun. Second, I learned a lot from the program - marketing, sales, finances, and the benefits of artificial intelligence for my small businesses.
After the program finished, we continued with quarterly meetings which gave us great sense of community. As a result, I have recommended SCORE to several of my colleagues around the USA and will continue to do so. Finally, I wish I knew of SCORE/Simple Steps before opening my first business as I would have avoided countless and costly mistakes.
