About the event

Small businesses often face challenges when seeking funding from traditional banks. In fact, a large percentage of loan applications are denied, leaving many entrepreneurs wondering what their next step should be.

This workshop explores alternative sources of financing available to small business owners when traditional lending is not an option. Participants will gain an overview of different funding opportunities and learn practical strategies to access capital to start, support, or grow their businesses.

Whether you are launching a new venture or looking for resources to expand, this session will help you better understand the financing landscape and identify options that may be right for your business.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Boyd Karren:

Boyd is “a serial entrepreneur”. He loves the world of small business and believes deeply that small business ownership is the key to strong communities. Boyd has earned two master’s degrees in business: an MBA from Indiana University, and a Master of Global Management degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He became a business loan broker and started Otro Financial after experiencing his own difficulties in finding funding for his small business opportunities.

Boyd and his wife Kristi will celebrate 33 of marriage this August. They are empty nesters and are awaiting their first grandchild in May, 2026. In his free time, you may find Boyd enjoying street tacos, taking a road trip or just taking it all in at the beach.
