Fireworks Restaurant & Bar, Intaba Liff-Anderson and Ocean Anderson
The large outside sign on the roof and a menu board visible from the sidewalk have improved customer volume. Many other changes were also implemented to improve profitability that included pricing her catered events for travel time out of town and the menu cost structure.
Bob Bernhard, SCORE Counselor, made a number of suggestions when he first started meeting with Intaba Liff-Anderson. Her outside signage was too small and the name of the restaurant was an unknown. She was trying to supplement the revenue with catering events out of town but did not have a cost structure to recover her expenses for travel and her menu selections. These issues have all be changed and the restaurant now has live music on weekends to attract even more customers to Fireworks.
The original reaturant started about 10 years ago as "INTABA's" by Intaba Liff-Anderson and her husband, Ocean. The business did not have much for outside signage to attract customers and was a struggling business. A brief name change to "Fireside" was challenged by a copyright infringement so it had to be changed several years ago. The owners were referred to SCORE by the SBDC at Linn-Benton Community College in late 2001.
