As a poet and activist, I asked myself: In a time when land needs all the help it can get to avoid being clear-cut or paved over, how can I help the land protect itself? As it so often is in Nature, the answer is to cooperate with partners. Land Trusts are conservers of land, and by pairing poets with protected lands, the Writing the Land project offers a way poets can help move their writing out of the woods and into action to protect the land we love. Writing the Land is honored to be doing this essential work. We invite you to join us by exploring our website, enjoying the poetry, reading

I’ve worked as an electrician and contractor since 1979. Over the years, I encountered a recurring problem on the job with no effective solution available, which inspired me to develop a specialty fastener for the electrical industry. That innovation earned both a patent and the Unishim® trademark in the USA and Canada. I then started a company to develop, manufacture, and distribute this product. With the experience and resources I gained through that process, I’m now developing additional electrical products that are easier and faster to use.

For a year and a half, the mother-daughter duo continued nursing and running Jamison-based Backyard Buzz part-time. “She couldn’t keep up with the demand,” Zebrowski said of her daughter, a beekeeper of nine years, who has since become a Cornell Certified Beekeeper and Certified Pollinator Steward.
