MAD Soaps, Christian Buchleitner
The growth of my business to date. I have 10 employees now and that number will increase to 25 this coming season. My vision for this company, however, is much larger. We’re nowhere near where we plan on being.
We run the fastest growing, newly improved, and constantly evolving detailing company in Maryland. We do automotive and marine detailing, including motorcycles, RVs, semis and more. We offer services such as cleaning ceramic coating, paint correction. There’s not anything that we don’t do!
I was going to Anne Arundel Community College, and, once out of class, my best friend and I would clean our cars. Then we decided to clean cars to earn money. We hit up a high school friend for our first detailing job and re-painted her rims. We took photos of the results and got another rims job. Then someone suggested we get into boats and got our first boat client the next year.
We’ve scaled our business to serve clients properly. Others don’t scale; there’s one person who answers the phone, makes the booking, and then does the job. MAD Soaps is a full-fledged business, fully insured and uses only the best products made for detailing all made in South Florida. We’re very eco-friendly and use only synthetic acids that will not ruin the Chesapeake Bay.
I was sleeping in my car, in debt and not making any money. I needed help with the business.
SCORE helped me to figure out how to scale and delegate. I can’t do everything myself. Dave also had great resources he shared with me. Plus, so much more – financial planning, networking, marketing ideas to help grow my business.
In 2018, I told Dave my predicament – sleeping in the car, debt-ridden and not making money – he gave me a piece of advice that we use to this day. Take all your money from the busy season and then pay off your debt. And that’s exactly what we did, and it’s been working great ever since.
Dave is always reaching out to me. He’s super supportive. He (and his wife!) come to our events. He’s always asking how I am doing. He genuinely cares.
