SchedGeo, Leif Jackson
I built a product which grows the revenue of mobile businesses and makes their lives easier.
SchedGeo is a customizable online booking platform for service companies and mobile professionals, e.g., house cleaners, tutors, interior designers and more, that allows customers to schedule when the business will be in that service area.
My wife is an interior designer and travels to her clients. She has found that it hard to schedule clients who are in different areas on the same day. I had the same problem when working as a magician/balloon artist/clown in an earlier life and travelling up and down the East Coast. I couldn’t book gigs in different locations because of the distance between say Richmond and Baltimore and I also couldn’t be a clown and a magician on the same day. So, I started looking for booking software that took service areas and differentiated services into account when customers are booking and found none. I figured that since I had a product management background, I could solve this problem and SchedGeo was born.
It is the only booking software that is customizable enough to take into account the following variables: services, services areas, employees, and times. It is really hard to do this seamlessly and SchedGeo makes it easy. It takes your service areas into account when scheduling appointments. For example, if a client in Bethesda books me, the software then only allows additional bookings on that day within a certain mile radius of Bethesda. SchedGeo allows mobile businesses to have greater control over their schedule and not have to talk to the customer to make a booking.
I have found that this helps many different types of mobile service businesses, but our primary customers are home cleaners, interior designers, and entertainers.
It can be lonely as an entrepreneur, so it was nice to have someone to bounce ideas off and who has been there before.
With Jay’s help, I wrote a business plan. Plus, he helped talk me through which technology to use based on scalability, which was immensely important.
Jay Mulford came from a software background so he could truly relate to my business and brought very relevant experience to my business questions. Plus, he nerds out on the technology and is excited to learn about it. Most importantly, Jay cares; he wants me to be successful.
