Concord Project Technologies, Olfa Hamdi
In February 2017, she co-founded Concord Project Technologies, a startup company that has built the learning curriculum and technology dedicated to empowering capital project teams to deliver predictable construction projects with the purpose of bringing innovation to the industry. Her company is providing these innovative solutions and know-how that the construction industry has needed for so long. Over the past 18 months, her flagship service package: Project Predictability Package™ (PPP) has been adopted by refinery based revamp projects in France, the U.S. as well as a power project in the Middle East.
Concord also provides AWP management and executive training and innovation workshops for construction companies and project teams across the world. In 2018 the company trained more than 100 project engineers. Concord Project Technologies has grown quickly to provide services for companies and teams on a global scale.
Over the past few months, she has worked with her team and the company’s advisory board on planning the growth phase of the company and reinforcing her position as a global leader in the Advanced Work Packaging and Predictability offering. Her vision is simple: 100% of our clients achieve 100% success rate on their capital projects. She plans to accomplish this vision by becoming the go-to company to partner with to ensure successful, on-time and on-budget capital project delivery. Concord is now entering a global growth phase for international markets.
She discovered SCORE while looking for entrepreneurship advice and resources online. She applied for a mentor and within a couple of days, received a response. John Edwards was assigned as her mentor. “The SV SCORE team welcomed me and provided me with many forms of support, from coaching to online resources.” She regularly shares many of the start-up and business situations encountered as CEO of the company. “My counselor has provided me advice on matters of business strategic decisions, business planning, negotiations and partnerships”. She plans to continue using SVSCORE’s resources as her success grows.
Olfa Hamdi was born and raised in Tunisia and speaks four languages and has studied and worked in three continents (Africa, Europe and in North America). She holds Masters of Science in Engineering from the University of Texas and Masters of Science in Project Management from the Ecole Centrale de Lille and a law degree in construction law from the University of Texas.
Her first job in construction was leading a small public works project in the suburbs of France. This early field experience taught her an important lesson: “things that cause construction delays generally happen way before construction is started – during the preparation and engineering phases”. That was the start of her quest to develop the formula for achieving on-time and on-budget construction projects. She then worked as a researcher with the Construction Industry Institute (CII) in Austin Texas where she had the opportunity to study the work packaging and project delivery methods of some of the most successful projects in the world. Her research, supported by energy companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron and similar energy companies, led to the development of the Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodology. She also founded the AWP Institute, a California- based non-profit organization to help spread the knowledge on AWP across the globe. Today, AWP is an industry best practice and the AWP Institute’s platform (workpackaging.org) is followed by construction professionals in over 40 countries.
