Choose Hope Anyway Inc., Andrew Morsello
SCORE helped turn my Passion into a clear path. I came in with a dream, but wasn't sure where to start. SCORE connected me with my friend, now and mentor, Dr. Swarn Rajpal, who guided me every step of the way and put together a team of professionals. This team gave freely of their experiences and time, and I do mean for free! Dr. Swarn and our team brought Choose Hope Anyway, my nonprofit, to life. I'm forever grateful, and I hope my success allows me to one day help others the way SCORE helped me.
In closing, my deepest gratitude to Nicole Baker from Community Choice Credit Union in Wyandotte, who told me about SCORE, and that is how the fantastic journey began. With the help of SCORE, we have received our approval for 501(c) (3) status. This is a great testimony of the partnership of Choose Hope Anyway Inc., and Score. With Love and Gratitude. Andrew Morsello.
Dr. Swarn Rajpal is such a beautiful Human. His patience and ability to understand my passion and dreams would have been a bit exhausting to most. When I looked at our meetings on Read in the beginning, I was doing all the talking. Somehow, Dr. Swarn heard what I truly wanted Choose Hope Anyway Inc to be, and that was way before I did. In his special manner, he slowed me down, and he asked great questions.
As we continued this process, there came a time to meet other Score Mentors to join our team. Mary McGough enters the Journey. Mary is a retired, very successful accountant. Dr. Swarn always spoke of transparency, and having a strong beginning in accounting books is monumental for a nonprofit. Mary did exactly that, she gave me a template for my accounting and records.
Dr. Swarn's next teammate was Larry Powe, a very successful retired attorney, who walked me through some of the potential problems that can arise from his experience. Larry also gave a great understanding of how to move forward with my application for my 501 (c) (3) status.
