Ethel’s Home Care Service, Denecho Turner
Denecho Turner contacted Detroit SCORE in May 2016. She was looking for general startup assistance.
Denecho has 20 years of experience as a registered nurse. She was working with an agency providing home health care. She decided to start her own home health care business.
Initially, she evaluated a franchise. The $6,000 fee and limited support turned her off. Like many entrepreneurs, she started her own business “Ethel’s Home Care Service”. Her tag line is “We Care for You Like Family” as Ethel was her grandmother.
Her SCORE mentor George Stern provided a variety of start-up assistance including the State of Michigan and EIN registration. Additional meetings between Denecho and George included work on a logo, business cards, website, brochure, and other marketing activities. George also helped with suggestions on organizations to help with insurance, accounting, payroll, staff, and her Service Dog.
Denecho now supports five staff members and has quit her job to devote her time to her business.
Congratulations to Denecho.
