SCORE volunteer with more than twelve years of service, offering deep expertise across sales and marketing, intellectual property (patents, trademarks, and copyrights), and new product development through full-scale production. My background includes extensive experience in commercialization strategy, manufacturing processes, and go-to-market execution.
I began my career in law enforcement, serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and later as an Investigator for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. During and after this period, I invented multiple products for both law enforcement and consumer markets and am listed as inventor or co-inventor on nine issued patents.
I have been the owner and/or CEO of several companies and served as Marketing Director for Mag Instrument, Inc., manufacturer of the Mag-Lite® flashlight. In that role, I developed and executed the complete marketing and commercialization strategy for a new flashlight product line. My responsibilities included end-to-end product development, assembly and production processes, logistics and shipping, print and television advertising, recruitment and management of an international sales force, and the establishment of internal operating procedures, personnel systems, and HR infrastructure.
Under this leadership, Mag Instrument grew from zero sales in 1979 to over $50 million in annual revenue by 1986, continuing to exceed $200 million in sales by the year 2000.
