Start, Grow, Expand Your Small Business – Participate in our Minority Small Business Program. This program provides business mentoring and financial awards for minority-owned businesses located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Use these awards for direct company operations (e.g., accounting services, advertising, website operations, customer service tools, and equipment). SCORE business mentoring will be available, as needed.
Eligibility
- Minority-Owned Businesses
- Registered in or has a business license in South Carolina
- Owned by African American, Hispanic, Asian, or Native American
- At least 51% of Minority Ownership
- Small Business, 25 or Fewer Employees
- Business Is Located in Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, or Hampton Counties
- Non-profits are not eligible
- Participate in Award Orientation Program (Live or Recorded)

Award Specifications and Rules: Under our Minority Small Business Program, business owners may apply for financial awards. Business owners must meet the eligibility criteria, then complete an application and provide supporting documents. An Advisory Committee will select award winners.

Program Orientation | Business Mentoring
Orientation Workshops: Attendance at an awards orientation workshop is required before submitting your application. If you need help with your business plan, request a SCORE business mentor. Please refer to the "Minority Business Support Program" in your request.

Business Award Application
Apply for an award for your business: Minority business owners may apply for financial awards. Awards up to $2,500 will be given. Business owners must participate in an awards orientation, then submit a basic business plan and financials with their application.
