About the event

SCORE Santa Barbara understands the need for unifying and supportive community initiatives. Women SCORE Higher creates an environment for Santa Barbara’s Women in Business to connect, learn and grow through the power of their local network.

Women SCORE Higher offers a meaningful community with networking opportunities for anyone along the spectrum of their  career journey. Participants include established business owners, entrepreneurs in the making, and anyone interested in building and being a part of a women-in-business community! Women SCORE Higher unites participants to challenge one another to succeed physically, mentally, and in entrepreneurial strength!

Since a successful launch event last year, the Women SCORE Higher community continues to grow with monthly networking mixers hosted at women-owned businesses throughout Santa Barbara County. After months of planning, Women SCORE Higher will host its second annual event on September 27, 2023.

This year’s event brings inspirational speakers and a local business owner panel hosted in both English and Spanish. It promises to be an evening full of surprises, meaningful connections and thought-provoking discussion!

Ticket price includes catered food and non-alcoholic beverages. A local winery will offer wine for purchase. Event vendors are  women-owned businesses based throughout the Central Coast.

The evening agenda includes:

  • Welcome and community building (food and drinks will be served at this time)
  • Inspirational Speaker: Isabel Sesma “The Self-Care Revolution”
  • Panel Discussion: Local business owners (Karla Mora, Dora Chan, Zohe Felici and Lili Munoz) and community makers share their experiences on business topics such as getting help through various business phases, how to navigate work-life balance, how to show-up as your authentic self in business and community and more…
  • Speed Networking

The panel discussion will include a question and answer session!

Tickets are $15. In case of financial hardship, enter "WSH" at registration to receive a subsidized ticket.

Please be sure to register early, as venue capacity is limited to 150 attendees.

She is mostly recognized as a model, since Isabel is part of the first generation of successful plus-size models recognized in Mexico and with almost 10 years of experience.

Her experience in the modeling field, opened the doors for her to create spaces to work specifically on the issues that women brought to her the most, self acceptance, self esteem, teaching and discussing relevant topics such as women’s history, feminism, self-esteem and self-efficacy. She continues to host workshops in Mexico and worldwide and gives conferences around Mexico and Latin America about the importance of healing our self-esteem, focusing on how to live a good life.

Panelist Bio - Karla Mora:

Karla Mora is Founder and Managing Partner of Alante Capital, which invests to enable a circular and decarbonized future for the apparel, footwear, and home goods industries.

Early on she developed a deep passion for reforming production practices across industries to improve working conditions and protect the environment. She has seen and done it all. She thrives on extending her experience of what truly works, with a program just for her clients – exactly where they are in their business. And her calling now is to help others! She helps develop and grow your brand, establish and expand your client base, charge your worth for your services, and everything in between!

Panelist Bio - Lili Munoz:

Lili is the founder of Colibri Handmade, a business that focuses on establishing meaningful relationships with artisans in Latin America. She collaborates with artisans to help bridge a connection and promote artisan products through an online store and in person via pop up markets. In 2021 she experienced first hand the negative financial implication covid had on her business. As a way to mitigate the financial hit she and 4 other co-founders decided to organize the first Mujeres Makers Market in May of 2021.

The idea was for it to be a one time market or perhaps an annual market where vendors like herself could have a space to sell their products. Soon the organizers realized the need for this market.  After the first event they agreed to turn it into a monthly market that highlights and offers a platform for women of color to showcase their business. Today Mujeres Makers Market promotes 65 vendors monthly at their downtown pop up market. They hosted their first Mujeres Summit in May 0f 2023, they continue to grow and expand with the purposes of making an impactful difference in the lives of small business owners in Santa Barbara.
