A: Congrats. Getting your website up and running is a great deal. However, equally important now is to make sure that your website is getting found. There are hundreds of millions of websites out there, and you want to make sure that your business is visible when people are searching for certain keywords on Google®, Yelp!® or Foursquare®.
Like Web design advancements, search engine optimization (SEO) techniques also keep on changing as search engines like Google change their search algorithms frequently. Ideally, you shouldn’t have to worry about those changes. If you chose a site builder that includes an easy-to-use SEO tool, all that work will be done for you in the background.
Instead, you can focus on:
Keeping your site fresh. Continue to tweak the content on your site to make your brand shine online. Make sure you are updating and refreshing your site with the latest content and images.
Connecting your social presence. Your business has a website, a Yelp! page, a Facebook® page, and probably other social media pages as well. You want to discretely tie these social platforms to your website so visitors (i.e. customers and potential customers) get one unified view of your business. For example, take flash. Barely few years ago, having flash on your website seemed to be the trend. Now, flash is rarely seen on the most modern websites as it doesn’t play nice with most smartphones. Unless you read a lot of tech blogs or magazines, you’re probably not going to have much insight into the trends.
That’s where choosing the right website building provider comes in handy. A good provider will not only suggest that your website is out of date but will also recommend the new, modern templates you should be using to keep pace with the latest trends.
