Ever since its foundation in 1984, the Grand Strand SCORE contributed to the growth of the local business community in Myrtle Beach Area via mentoring and business education. Traditionally, MENTORS are former executives, managers, and business owners who volunteer their time, skills, and expertise to help newly established and mature small businesses to find the best path towards growth and prosperity. Mentors are the CORE of the SCORE organization and today we are proud to recognize several of them who served for more than a decade in Myrtle Beach Area.
Mr. R. D. Goroski (industrial design) joined SCORE back in May 1991. A mentor with an amazing professional history and personal charisma, he continuously contributes to the success of the Chapter, through mentoring and serving as Chapter Chair (twice!).
Mr. and Mrs. Herman (restaurant owners) have many success stories to tell. In the past 10 years, Karen served as Chapter’s Treasurer while mentoring and working part-time. It is amazing how much dedication Chet and Karen have for the well-being of the Grand Strand community. Thank you!
Mr. Arthur Simpson (manufacturing), a remarkably successful businessman, served at the Grand Strand SCORE for 11 years in different roles including mentor, workshop presenter, and Vice-Chair of Onboarding, helping new volunteers to get trained and oriented within SCORE organization.
Dr. L. A. Smith and Dr. N. W. Twigg (both with Ph.D./MBA in business management) joined Grand Strand Chapter in 2011. Over the years they have provided invaluable insights to hundreds of small business owners with strategic, tactical, and operational business solutions.
Last but not least is Mr. J. Lamoree (business financing), who did mentor clients of the Grand Strand chapter since 2008. He advised them on how to start a business, manage and operate an existing business, or assist- ing clients in obtaining all types of commercial and personal loans.
