HISTORY OF SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA SCORE®
In March of 1977, a group of retired business executives and professionals met in Ottumwa to discuss how they might use their talents in helping new and existing local and area businesses become even more successful. SCORE® was the vehicle these men and women chose, and a request for recognition by the SCORE® National Office was made. The application was approved and the chapter now serves the business needs of Ottumwa and surrounding counties. SCORE® is a non-profit organization and the volunteer counseling arm of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The South Central Iowa SCORE® Chapter covers a territory including the counties of: Mahaska, Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Jefferson, Wayne, Appanoose, Davis & Van Buren.
