Barbara Reed, Loving Touch Home Care, LLC

Founder, Barbara Reed, launched Loving Touch Home Care, LLC (LTHC) in December 2013 to provide reliable, high-quality in-home care for the residents of the greater Chestertown area.  The firm began with 15 employees and has grown 300% in less than two years.

Reed's impressive credentials and ten years of experience as a nurse/ manager in both hospital and home healthcare settings provided the hands-on experience to plan and manage her new business. She earned her BS in Nursing from the University of Delaware, BA in Psychology from Washington College and Masters of Education from Wilmington University.

She attributes the continual growth to word-of-mouth from satisfied customers and professionals who referred clients. The firm's rapid growth and Reed's commitment to providing the best possible client care amplifies the challenges of staffing, which is an ongoing priority. LTHC currently holds Maryland's highest status rating: MBE/DBE/SBE in the service area of home heath care services.

Reed said that, "SCORE has helped the organization immensely". The ongoing guidance and advice offered was extremely helpful and a great resource. The free or low-cost training sessions they offered were also very beneficial. "I am thankful for my mentors and the support they have given me to boost my confidence. The responsibility and requirements of business can be daunting. I will never forget when my mentor strongly recommended that I take a vacation. He was right. I needed to step away, get balance in my life and foster a refreshed, positive perspective. I came back recharged physically and emotionally, and with renewed drive to lead the business with passion".
