Hoover’s delivers comprehensive company, industry, and marketing intelligence. You can view industry directories and search for information on specific companies. The site has information on key decision-makers in companies. It also provides information on your best prospects and allows you to build lists based on geography.

Dex
The site provides yellow pages information for the Qwest service area. You can enter a business category and location and receive all of the listings for the search criteria. The information would be helpful in identifying your local competitors.

US Census Bureau
This site, run by the U. S. Census Bureau, is a source of population, housing, economic, and geographic data. You can start searches at www.census.gov

U.S. Department of Commerce  - Bureau of Economic Analysis 

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis is your source of accurate and objective data about the nation's economy.  BEA's economists produce some of the world's most closely watched statistics, including U.S. gross domestic product, better known as GDP. Portland State University Population Research Center

Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA)
The Portland Chapter of PDCA consists of painting contractors and Associate and Affiliate members (suppliers to the contractors). The group meets to discuss issues relevant to the painting business and listen to speakers on topics concerning technical, regulatory, educational, and business management strategies. The group is an educational resource for painting contractors who strive to be both professional craftsmen and successful businesspeople.

The Oregon Association of Nurseries (OAN) is a non-profit trade association that represents more than 1,300 individual nursery stock producers, retailers, landscapers, and related companies serving the nursery and greenhouse industry. Small Business Administration (SBA)

Small Business Administration (SBA) For years the SBA has been one of the best places for women-owned businesses to look to for assistance with funding. On top of providing general resources and guidance through its Women’s Business Centers, the SBA can connect women-owned businesses with financing opportunities through its Lender Match tool. The SBA also can help with obtaining federal contracting opportunities for women-owned businesses through the Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contracting program.

Grants

State and Local Government Grants  - The federal government awards a variety of grant funding to other governments, like states or cities, or to nonprofit economic development organizations. Those entities then offer grants to local businesses. Plugging into your local startup ecosystem can help you stay on top of these opportunities. For example, New York state’s website offers a consolidated list of business grants and incubators organized by region

Grants.gov offers the most comprehensive look at federal grant options for businesses.  There are thousands of grants to apply to, there are many opportunities here for companies from all backgrounds. Grants.gov lists federal grants from agencies including the Department of the Interior, Health and Human Services, National Science Foundation and more.

IFundWomen Universal Grant Application Database - IFundWomen partners with other corporations to administer business grants. The company generally focuses on small-business grants for women, but also offers startup grants, crowdfunding and coaching, among other resources.

Minority Business Development Agency Centers

The MBDA, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, operates small-business support centers similar to SBDCs. The MBDA doesn't give grants to startup businesses directly, but these centers can connect you with grant organizations, help you prepare applications and secure other types of business financing

Amber Grant Foundation was founded by WomensNet in 1998 in honor of Amber Wigdahl, a woman entrepreneur who died at 19 years old. The Amber Grant Foundation carries on the youthful spirit of Wigdahl by offering women entrepreneurs grants to help their businesses take off. Each month, the Foundation gives away $4,000 in grant funds and it also gives away one year-end grant of $25,000.

Tory Burch Foundation, which was founded in 2009 in support of empowering women entrepreneurs, provides funding through its fellows program targeted at women-owned businesses. Fellows receive a five-day workshop series at the Tory Burch offices, a $5,000 grant for business education and more. Additionally, some fellows are invited to pitch at a Pitch Day event.

The Outrage Amplifier Grant is an activism organization that offers a $5,000 small-business grant to companies making a difference in their community. The Amplifier Grant is available on a seasonal basis; funding is awarded in January, April, July and October. To qualify for this grant, you must be a business or organization actively working to make the U.S. a better place. The Outrage accepts applications from startups, grassroots organizations, and nonprofits, among other small businesses.

FedEx Small Business Grant Contest - This annual competition awards grants to small-business owners in a variety of industries. You can sign up to receive an email when each application period opens. To be eligible, you’ll need to have been selling your product or service for at least six months. Be mindful, though, that each grant cycle receives thousands of applications.

SKYS THE LIMIT Each month, we award startup grants of up to $2,500 to entrepreneurs, thanks to the generous support of our partners. We also offer additional funding opportunities to registered members.

The Venmo Small Business Grant offers $10,000 grants annually, to 20 business owners. This program also provides mentorship from industry leaders and the opportunity to be featured on Venmo’s social media pages. To qualify, you need to have a U.S. Venmo business account in good standing. You also need to have fewer than 10 employees, less than $50,000 in annual sales and have sold $500 or more in goods and services at least three months before the start of the grant program. Venmo announced winners for the 2023 grant cycle in October. You can receive the latest updates about the 2024 cycle through your Venmo business profile.
