CareWorks Health Services, Anh T Dang Mankiewicz
Since starting her business in 2010, Dang has served on the local and national boards of the American Board of Home Care, nonprofit promoting ethical practices in the home care industry. In 2014, she received a SCORE Award honorable mention.
When Dang came to SCORE, she was struggling with isolation, stress, and burnout. The SCORE mentorship, professional advisory board, and CEO forum helped her increase revenue, hire better employees, and let go of staff who were not the right fit. Dang says, “I’ve avoided making big mistakes because I have mentors who are having me ask the right questions and analyze results.”
Anh T Dang Mankiewicz was 13 when her father suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. As she and her family suddenly became caregivers, she saw how the people surrounding her father helped him maintain his dignity so that he could exercise and do daily therapy. This experience, along with an entrepreneurial spirit and a family full of healthcare practitioners, helped inspire Dang to start CareWorks Health Services, a caregiving agency that helps seniors live at home despite the challenges of dementia, strokes, and chronic conditions.
CareWorks’ registered nurses provide in-home medical care, including treatment plans that can alleviate conditions or prevent them from getting worse. Caregivers help with meals, light household chores, and medication reminders. CareWorks even offers technical solutions to help family members stay in constant contact with seniors.
