My successes.

I embarked on Northbound Physical Therapy and Wellness (NPTW) at the end of 2020. The business idea was the product of a burning-out healthcare provider ready for a change...AKA Me! The business now has two main avenues of service. The first offers physical therapy and wellness services via house calls and telehealth for individuals who prefer or require services in the home setting. Physical therapy services help individuals restore or improve function and reduce pain, while wellness services help people who want to improve their fitness, physical resilience, or general health. Our business aims to bring people highly personalized, accessible, effective, and holistic care. An additional service of NPTW is a newer endeavor that brings physical therapist expertise to businesses through injury prevention and worker health programming. Our goals are to help employees experience greater safety and satisfaction in their work and for businesses to retain employees and save money on the direct and indirect costs of injuries. 

I learned about SCORE through a friend and was grateful for the connection. SCORE helped me assess and implement my ideas, learn business basics, and feel I had a safety net from significant missteps. They worked hard to ensure I had the right mentors matched to my field but also helped direct me to resources when my needs were beyond their purview. One of my original mentors, Jan Carrick, shared hours of her time helping me understand the administrative side of the healthcare and insurance world.

I greatly appreciated the seemingly "non-business" related advice of my current mentor Donna Probes who encourages me to create and maintain healthy boundaries with work to avoid more of the burnout I have known previously in my career.

I have been so grateful for the time and insights of each of my SCORE mentors. It is in large part due to this organization that I am where I am today, with many goals still to be achieved, but very happy with my decision to leap into a business that now offers me to rise to the challenge of bringing my ideas and solutions to people who need my professional services.
