Neuco Seating was founded in 1993 by Bryan and Gayle Neu in their garage. What began as a small operation grew over the years into two core areas: Commercial Furniture Sales and Professional Upholstery. They built a strong reputation, serving everyone from large companies needing complete furniture overhauls to small businesses looking for repairs like booth reupholstery. After 31 years of dedication and success, Bryan and Gayle made the decision to retire and sell the business.
That’s where I come in. I'm a lawyer and a mother of three. Before stepping into the world of furniture and upholstery, I spent years prosecuting child sex abuse cases. When my husband’s career brought us to Traverse City, I shifted to part-time legal work so I could focus on raising our kids. Once my youngest started school full-time, I found myself ready for a new chapter—and that’s when the opportunity to acquire Neuco came along.
On February 2, 2024, I officially took the reins and rebranded the company as Neuco Furniture & Upholstery. The new name pays tribute to the Neu family's legacy while reflecting the company’s evolution into a trusted source for both commercial furniture solutions and expert upholstery services.
From the start, I knew I didn’t want to navigate this journey alone. I turned to SCORE and was lucky to be matched with an incredible mentor, David Summers. David has been a steady source of guidance and encouragement, and I’m so grateful for our ongoing conversations. I’m hopeful we’ll continue our regular check-ins as I grow the business and build on Neuco’s strong foundation.
