Michael Del Vecchio (Killingworth)
Mike currently counsels SCORE clients in Middletown. His background includes starting several business consulting firms, working at Price Waterhouse in New York City, and reaching the level of Chief Technical Officer for a large insurance corporation. He is a professional project manager and has experience working on merger/acquisition teams, developing strategic plans, executing large financial systems projects, and managing mid-sized organizations. He is also an experienced technical trainer. 

James Fayal (Stonington)
James is an independent consultant to privately held and publicly traded companies structuring and implementing corporate growth programs that include acquisitions, partial equity investments and product distribution partnerships. He has worked on transactions in the Americas, Europe and Asia. He is experienced in market and competitor analysis, financial analysis, company valuation, diligence, transaction structuring and negotiations.  He is a mechanical engineer with several patents and business start-up experience. 

Ward Feirer (Centerbrook)

Ward’s career has been as a sales and marketing executive with expertise in consumer packaging and point of purchase promotional materials. Most recently he was the Northeast National Accounts Manager for World Wide Packaging Company based in South Carolina. His background includes project management, accounting and sales service. Currently, he is an Advertising Executive for a local publisher of town magazines.

John Ferrara (Westbrook)
Experienced manager in manufacturing, distribution and retail firms sales, marketing, customer service, operations, inventory management and purchasing having worked his way from stock clerk to National Sales Manager high performance automotive parts company. Responsibilities included customer service, warranty and repair operations, managing third party Internet sales and cross-functional teams. Extensive experience with non-profit agencies at both the volunteer and board of directors level, as a civic and community volunteer as well as a municipal office holder.

Larry Flick (Cromwell)
Thirty-six years business and teaching experience and leading a multinational corporation and entrepreneur. MBA in Operations Research. CEO of Flicks Inc., an eLearning consulting and development company. Adjunct Professor at Norwalk Community College and currently teaching at Three Rivers Community College.

Don Flynn (Essex)
Broad management, business and technical background. Knowledge and expertise in project management, business planning, strategy, marketing, innovation, intellectual property and the development and management of products and services. Spent 27 years with a major corporation. Currently consulting in the area of energy services.

Everett Gottschall (Middletown)
A graduate of Dickinson College, Ed is a consultant with extensive experience in medical and dental practice finances, valuations, and brokerage, as well as a career in corporate strategic planning, research, and business plans with a major Hartford life Insurance company as a System Analyst while working on his MBA degree. He was the first President of the Connecticut Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). In addition to serving as a SCORE volunteer, Ed holds a private pilot's license, and has written a book on how to “quick start” the writing of a business plan.

She worked at Pfizer for 18 years as a Database Administrator, involved with System and Email administration, and was also involved with end-user training. Gaile is currently an independent contractor, supporting an application that integrates data queried from a SQL Server database with Excel to produce a Powerpoint presentation.

Philp Lombardo (Niantic)
A Human Resource professional experienced in business methods and working with owners of small entrepreneurial companies to help solve organizational and employee concerns. Experienced in employee communications, performance management, compensation, and HR policies.

 

Alan Mayer (New London)
Retired Marketing executive and owner of Kirkland House Bed and Breakfast.
International Director for Jose Cuervo Tequila stationed in London, U.K. And Mexico City, Mexico. Vice President, Heublein Spirits and Foods, other senior marketing responsibilities for Waring Blendors, American Safety Razors, Aqua Velva and Lectric Shave. Market Research analyst for Ogilvy and Mather Advertising Agency. Currently living in New London and Manhattan.

Jerry Narnia (Old Saybrook)

Jerry’s had a broad range of experience in international trade and manufacturing. His professional experience is in global sales and marketing, with emphases on business development and strategic planning.  Additionally, he has experience in corporate training/mentoring, business restructuring, including budgeting, forecasting, marketing strategies and program roll outs.

Nazzareno "Nazz" Paciotti (Niantic)
Financial Officer in aerospace, international, and physical security companies as well as oil and gas production, refining and exploration, including start-ups, acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers.

Andy Pappas Andy Pappas (Niantic)

Andy is past owner of Constantine's Restaurant in Niantic, and formerly sales and marketing executive for the Minor League Baseball team Connecticut Defenders in Norwich. He is currently an Account Representative at Comcast Spotlight, the advertising division of Comcast; a board member on the East Lyme Library Foundation; co-founder of the Children's Museum of Southeastern CT in Niantic, and co-founder of the East Lyme Public Trust. He also organized the Downtown Niantic Merchants Association. Andy's strength is developing and implementing marketing that is unconventional, but effective, for businesses and organizations of all sizes. 

Peter Pappas (Groton)
Peter Pappas is an established expert in small business management.  He was Adjunct Professor of Business and Director of the Mitchell College Center for Entrepreneurship, providing education and counseling programs to small business.  Prior to that, he was Regional Director of the Connecticut Small Business Development Center at the University of Connecticut.  As an entrepreneur, he has been the chief executive officer of several closely held businesses, including restaurants, real estate development, manufacturing and chemical technology.  He specializes in business finance, valuation, purchase and sale of business and business systems such as accounting, human resources, policy and procedure. 

Walter Patrick (Norwich)

Walter has more 26 years of extensive industry experience in consulting, research and business and educational services, and government contracting. He was VP Engineering Division at  A&T Technical Services and SEMCOR,  the Engineering Center Manager for CSBDC, a small business owner in Mystic, owner Allied Resources Inc., Government Systems Manager. Additionally, he has extensive background in proposal writing and conducting workshops. He is an Adjunct Professor at Mitchell College and Three Rivers Community College and is a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Radiomen in Submarine Service.

Christine is a collaborative leader accomplished at strategic planning, process improvement, and reengineering of key business processes. She is adept at leveraging enabling technologies and business processes to gain a competitive advantage. Her skills include communications, team building and negotiating, as well as maximizing efficiencies and productivity through boosting employee morale and performance. Christine has a wide background in many areas of information technology, including technology architecture, application design, infrastructure management, and lifecycle methodologies. Positions she has held include technical director/manager of software products and applications, AVP of hardware planning for a large insurer, IT architect and technical consultant.

Bob Potter (Old Lyme)
Bob is a graduate of Syracuse University and has more than 40 years in creative management, marketing communications, and non-profit development for leading corporate, arts, cultural and non-profit organizations including Time Warner, National Geographic, AOL, National Gallery of Art, Lyme Art Association, Mystic Seaport, and Save the Children. His areas of expertise include marketing and communications, web development, market research, fundraising for non-profits, and strategic planning. Additionally, Bob provides consulting for the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and volunteer work with the Southeast Connecticut Shoreline Food Pantry.

David Solin (Madison)

David brings a broad business background to SCORE, having started and run a financial market consulting company.  He has experience with writing and executing business plans, budgeting, and overall small business management.  Previously he worked for an international bank as a Manager of Foreign Exchange, working with institutional money managers and large corporations to define and execute their currency requirements.   David also spent a number of years at a large conglomerate, providing financial analysis, strategic planning, and mergers and acquisition assessments. 

Burt Sonenstein (Madison)

Burt served as VP Administration and Finance and CFO for several large non-profits including colleges and foundations. He was also the founding CEO of an insurance cooperative providing liability and employment practices insurance to the school, college and university market. He is currently the chief financial and investment officer for the Annie E Casey Foundation in Baltimore with a $200 million operating budget and approximately $3 billion in assets. His experience with large non-profits includes developing management financial and operating statements, creating a business strategy and obtaining financing.

Eric Steinmetz (Guilford)
General management in Europe for 33 years in international transportation and logistics including start-ups, marketing, sales, business plan development , and export/import issues.

Howard Stillman (Waterford)
Howard has been a small business owner for 37 years. He successfully ran a family owned business in New London, CT that was established in 1902 and reinvented the company over the years growing the  customer base of commercial accounts including schools, corporations, and small independent businesses. His business was an active member of the local Chamber of Commerce and also supported the New London non-profit community.

Bill Ward (Durham)
Bill has an extensive background in technical sales, field sales, and market development for copper alloy strip and fabricated parts. His business experience includes domestic and international Sales Director for a copper alloy wire mill. He has spent several years as an independent sales agent for metal working equipment, materials and tooling. He has a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering.

Roger Wardwell (Guilford)
Experienced in product design, quality, and manufacturing engineering in consumer and aerospace products including metalworking, woodworking, finishing, assembly, foundry, plastics, and electronics.

Margo Weitekamp (Essex)
Margo is an expert in market research, consumer marketing, positioning and brand identity development.  She has 30+ years of marketing-related experience working in Health and Beauty Care for major manufacturers such as Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble.  She has extensive experience in building small businesses into large ones and was intimately involved in expanding several J&J skincare businesses into large, iconic brands, e.g., Aveeno, Clean & Clear and Neutrogena.  Margo currently works part time as a Marketing Consultant in her own firm, and is a SCORE Mentor in Essex, as well the SCORE Marketing Chair for SECT SCORE
