SCORE Helps Promote Entrepreneurship, Small Business Awareness
This week has been designated as Small Business and Entrepreneur week, and Millikin University is taking the opportunity to show off their small business assistance program.
The program is called SCORE and its focus is on providing counseling for potential small business owners, as well as entrepreneurs in a one-on-one basis or through a group class.
Bob Luther, with SCORE, says their reach is 4 counties wide, Macon, DeWitt, Shelby, and Piatt, and they met with roughly 100 prospective small business owners last year, “This program has been a success because despite a tough economy, people still have kept their entrepreneurial spirit and people still want to make something of their own,” Luther said. “It’s important that we have this program because our mentors that we have working with us are all former business owners or business experts who are offering one-on-one advice with people who want to get into the realm of entrepreneurship and without leadership that is proven difficult to do.”
