SCORE Helps Hundreds of Thousands of Entrepreneurs in FY05

SCORE Wins Award for Web Site Excellence

Washington, D.C.—SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” provided 403,724 services to the small business community in FY05 through face-to-face and online counseling and workshops. Local SCORE offices held 6,746 workshops that covered a wide range of business issues. Nationwide, 117,480 people attended these training sessions.

SCORE’s online counselors conducted nearly 100,000 sessions last year through the SCORE Web site, Entrepreneurs enter a question or key words, review a list of counselors and submit questions to the counselor of their choice. SCORE’s 1,300 online counselors provide expert advice in more than 600 business areas.

The SCORE Web Site was honored with a prestigious Webby Award from the International Academy of the Digital Arts and Sciences. This leading international award honors excellence in Web design, creativity, usability and functionality. More than 100,000 people visited SCORE’s Web site each month in 2005.

Thousands of visitors to the SCORE Web site continue to sign up for one of SCORE’s monthly eNewsletters. SCORE eNews, which offers the latest trends and resources to help small businesses succeed, reaches nearly 65,000 subscribers. More than 38,000 people receive SCORE Expert Answers, which provides marketplace trends and advice from small business experts and industry leaders.

Since 1964, SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” has assisted more than 7.2 million aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners through counseling and business workshops.  More than 10,500 volunteer business counselors in 389 chapters serve their communities through entrepreneur education dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small business.
