SCORE Association Names Dane Petersen Public Relations & Marketing Manager
Washington, D.C.—The SCORE Association, "Counselors to America's Small Business" appointed Dane Petersen to the position of public relations & marketing manager responsible for media relations, production management, and special events coordination.
Petersen spent the last two years in Washington, D.C., at The Media Institute, where he served as director of a national First Amendment education and awareness program. He supervised a number of publications and events, and also acted as the Institute’s public relations director. Previously, he was a writer and editor for a marketing communications firm in northern Virginia.
“We are pleased to have Dane Petersen join the SCORE Association communications team,” says SCORE CEO Kenneth Yancey. “Dane has extensive media experience, and will play a vital role in enhancing SCORE’s growth in his work with SCORE volunteers and the media.”
Prior to moving to the Washington, D.C., area, Petersen was assistant director of media relations and sports information for Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Earlier, Petersen held various print and broadcast journalism positions in the Midwest. Petersen graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in journalism, and he earned an MBA from the University of Kansas.
