SCORE and American Express OPEN on the Road Driving Small Business Growth
Tour Provides Boost for Small Business Owners Nationally with Coaching Program and Workshop Series
New York City – SCORE and American Express OPEN announce the 2011 schedule for “Small Business High Speed Growth,” a multi-city tour designed to help small business owners develop strategies to and provide them with educational and coaching programs to identify new opportunities for business growth.
The “Small Business High Speed Growth” program broadens the previous “Small Business Speed Coaching Test Drive” event series and couples popular one-on-one speed coaching with new problem-solving workshops focusing on areas that directly impact small business growth, including effective marketing and business finances. The 2011 events will allow participating small business owners to ask questions on a variety of topics ranging from surviving the current economy to finding the “right” customers.
“The new ‘Small Business High Speed Growth’ series takes the most beneficial portion from the old program and combines it with an expanded agenda including instructive workshops and interactive sessions focused predominantly on business growth,” said Ken Yancey, SCORE chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to be entering our fifth year of partnership with American Express OPEN as we continue to develop this program to aid more entrepreneurs.”
For the first time since 2006, growth has surpassed survival as the number one priority for entrepreneurs, according to the American Express OPEN® Small Business Monitor, a semi-annual survey of business owners. Perhaps further evidence that economic recovery is reaching Main Street, more than one-third (35%) plan to hire, the highest level since the fall 2008 survey.
“Small business owners are survivors having held on through uncertain economic times and are now, more than ever, ready to grow and expand their businesses,” said Karen-Michelle Mirko, director of customer advocacy at American Express OPEN. “These growth-focused entrepreneurs require increased support from trusted partners who can lend their expertise on key business issues.”
