Orlando SCORE Wins National SCORE Chapter of the Year Award
Orlando, FL—SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” honors Orlando SCORE Chapter 138 as the National SCORE Chapter of the Year. Orlando SCORE earned this award for exceptional growth in the services provided to local entrepreneurs, and strong client satisfaction and counselor diversity. Chapter Chair Bob Shephard and Orlando SCORE were honored by SCORE and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) during SBA Expo ’05 in Washington, DC.
Orlando SCORE provided nearly 1,850 client services last year—almost double the number from the year before. Follow-up surveys showed that the satisfaction rate for both face-to-face counseling clients and seminar attendees was nearly 100 percent. Orlando SCORE has seen significant increases in the number of women and minority counselors helping small businesses.
SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, “Orlando SCORE’s more than 50 volunteer counselors donated more than 7,000 hours of their time last year to supporting the success of the small business community.” Yancey adds, “The dedication and enthusiasm they bring each day to helping entrepreneurs succeed is an inspiration to all of us.”
Orlando SCORE is a partner with the Disney/SBA National Entrepreneur Center (NEC), a one-stop resource center where entrepreneurs can access the full range of coordinated resources they need to be successful. The NEC offers business counseling and training for a variety of business topics and works with other small business service providers.
