One of the smartest moves an entrepreneur can make in the new year is finding and using a smart and savvy business mentor.

If one of your New Year’s resolutions involves following through on dreams of starting a small business or growing an existing one, take advantage of the mentorship resources offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The SBA network of resource partners provides free and confidential one-on-one counseling, training and mentorship that can help to unleash your small business potential. Nationally,  these efforts helped entrepreneurs start more than 13,500 businesses, secure more than $4.7 billion in capital and create and retain a total of more than 70,000 jobs.

The SBA network includes Small Business Development Centers — including a center in Grand Junction — as well as SCORE, Women Business Centers and Veterans Business Outreach Centers. Together, these small business partners make a big difference in guiding and directing new and experienced entrepreneurs.

Nationwide, Small Business Development Centers assisted 485,487 clients. For more information, visit

SCORE counseled and trained nearly 442,000 clients. For more information, visit www.sba.gov/content/score.
