Chism Manufacturing Solution LLC moved into a larger space in 2013, doubled sales volume to $1 million and recently earned two certifications from NSF International Strategic Registrations: ISO9001:2008 for Quality Management and AS9100 for Aerospace Management Systems.

To earn the certifications, the company's employees and managers went through an eight-month training program and passed a series of in-depth audits. The training program was funded in part by a grant from Workforce Florida and provided by the Advanced Resources Center for Business.

CMS manufactures electronic and cable harness wiring products for the aerospace industry and other commercial customers. The AS9100 certification is endorsed or required by all major aerospace manufacturers, and ISO9001 assures commercial customers that their work will be completed with quality-management systems.

"These certifications are crucial to our company's growth strategy," says Dave Chism, president and founder of CMS. "They show our commitment to high- quality products and management."

Chism cited the assistance of Manasota SCORE mentor Richard "King" Barnard, who worked with Chism for four years as the business grew from three part-time employees to 10 employees.
