Lorinda turned her writing and research skills, along with her desire to make a difference, into a career path by founding Grants Ink in 2015.
"I signed up for a SCORE mentor because they were much more supportive of my entrepreneurial journey than my professors. When I went to them, I knew I wanted to have my own business. I wanted to have my own work life. But when I would go to school, my professors were totally against it, so I realized I needed someone else to give me another opinion. SCORE helped me realize it was a viable option and I totally could do it."
Ricardo Casas, one of Lorinda's mentors, coaches her at least twice per month. Typically, they'll work on a specific project, like overhauling her accounting.
"Ricardo gives me amazing feedback. He taught me the importance of taking emotionality out of business. He's a numbers guy. I'm more of a creative. I look at things from an emotional perspective.
