Working for a large decentralized corporation I gained experience as a CEO in Manufacturing, Sales/Marketing, Finance and General Management and Acquisitions. Later as a partner in a Turnaround Management company I was exposed to a broad range of problems that needed solutions in a short time frame.
The requirements of acquisitions and the integration of them promote the need for real and honest assessment of a companies true strengths and weaknesses. As well as the importance of making quick decisions prior to events overtaking the organization. Being exposed to the Turnaround industry sharpens the ability to quickly determine what is valuable, necessary as well as what actions must be taken quickly to survive.
My experience as CEO of a multinational manufacture and service company taught me to appreciate the talents of my competitors as well as the need to distribute internal authority and responsibility. The time in the Turnaround Industry gave me experience in many types of industries, distributions systems, marketing strategies and most important an insight as to why they fail.
Since retiring to Maine, I have had the pleasure of participating in many community activities. My current focus is with the local Habitat for Humanity, where we are directing efforts to enable seniors to stay in their homes. As a mentor I enjoy helping others reach their potential, sharing my network of contacts and indirectly creating opportunities in the State of Maine.
