I also work with existing entrepreneurs to further develop (or even pivot) their business plans and related implementation strategies. The overall aim is to use my 35+ years of experience - at both large and small businesses - to help you attain your very own definition of success! SCORE BIO Mark Phillips literally worked his way DOWN the corporate ladder! After starting his career with Procter and Gamble in Logistics, Customer Service and Promotional Advertising, he teamed up with former P&Gers at a nutritional food products start-up, Nutrition Technology Corp., where sales increased from $2M to $18M in 2+ years. Not satisfied being a non-equity partner, in 1985 Phillips launched ASAP Event Advertising (ASAP), from his home (before working from home was a cool thing to do). ASAP provides temporary promotional signage for many Fortune 500 clients, primarily retail chain stores, across North America. Bootstrapping, along with occasional bank financing, has fueled ASAP's multi million dollar business growth for more than 35 years. This allowed Phillips to avoid equity dilution and maintain control of his business. Majority ownership was (and is) important to him, given the history and reputation of many VC backed ventures that he has observed. While making plenty of mistakes along the way, he has stayed true to a core belief of: "do it right... do it now... do it right, now!" while recognizing that "masterpieces take time". Phillips still enjoys his role as Chief Attention Getter for ASAP Event Advertising, having transferred ownership to the next generation of business leaders. He is happy to help others develop their God-given entrepreneurial skills while cautioning avoidance of the many pitfalls along the way.
