I started and operated my own company (a small business) growing it from zero sales to over $24 million in 14 years. As a small business owner I was exposed to all facets of running a business ranging from sales marketing, new product development, manufacturing, product sourcing, distribution, operations, and IT, to finance. Because of my broad management experience in running a company I can recognize what specific resources are needed to help your business and bring those resources (from SCORE) to the table. Spent over 30 years in the contract furniture industry manufacturing, sourcing, and selling to universities and human services programs. Have an extensive background in sales and sales management holding positions of regional sales manager, national sales manager, and VP of sales. Went on to start my own company, Butler Woodcrafters, Inc., a leading manufacturer of furniture for the university and human services market. Owned and operated the company for 14 years building revenues from zero to over $24 million, with over 80 employees. Held the position of president and operated and oversaw all facets of the business ranging from sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing, international sourcing and importing, new product development, and IT to accounting. Built the infrastructure to operate as a leader in our market niche to include hiring a solid executive team consisting of CFO, VP Mfg., VP Sales, and IT director. Developed all printed marketing material catalogs and website, developed a full product line with new product introductions annually, hired and managed a captive sales force, implemented full company benefits such as healthcare, dental, life insurance, vacation, 401K,etc. Implemented an enterprise wide computer system to encompass contact management, order entry, MRP, accounting, warehouse management, etc., developed and operated a full distribution network for delivery and installation of our products throughout the entire east coast. Operated an extremely profitable company that enabled us to sell the company to a strategic buyer, Sauder Manufacturing in 2014. Stayed on as president for 2 years and consulted for 1 ½ years before retiring September 1st, 2017. In short, I have a lot of experience running all facets of a business.
