How I can help you
Having been a serial entrepreneur since my teens I have been an owner and partner in several startup ventures as well as starting and managing the operations of a large beverage distribution business. I started my career in my family owned businesses, went through business acquisitions and mergers finally exiting that business through the sale of it. During those thirty years and the next ten years I had the opportunity to start several small businesses. A few were successful and a few were not. The business education I received has been invaluable to me.
What did I learn? First, running a successful business requires planning, a business plan specifically. Without it you have no objectivity, no direction, no goals. Second, communication is critical. You have to be able to communicate your business mission in way that people understand it and want to support it. Third, make your expectations known to partners and employees. Fourth, track results. Follow the motto, “What gets measured gets done.” Fifth, promote your business. Be the head cheerleader. Find every opportunity to advertise your business name, service and/or product. Develop public speaking skills and offer your knowledge to social, educational, fraternal, veteran and community groups. Sixth, be a leader. Collaborate, acknowledge, elevate, support and promote others in your business and community. Do good works for others.
