Although an attorney by education and license, I spent the entirety of my career with a major public utility, where I was part of numerous teams charged with developing and implementing various types of business objectives, including determining their acceptability and viability to numerous stakeholders. These stakeholders included retail customers, large commercial businesses and government regulators, as well as Company shareholders. In particular, as part of major rate request proceedings before the New York State Public Service Commission, my team contributed to the development of business plans for every aspect of the Company's business, as well as identifying and justifying the costs of providing service. I believe I can apply these basic business principles and associated analysis to small businesses.
In addition, I currently serve as a Board member and Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee of a small non-profit organization. These responsibilities bring me into contact currently with the issues confronted by small businesses in generating revenue, generating and maintaining interest in the organization, as well as managing costs, in addition to other duties. In particular, my time served at the non-profit during the pandemic showed me the ingenuity that can be applied by an organization to reshape its business successfully even when faced with the most dire business and financial forecasts.
