Joella Gamon

As the recovery for the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the economy positively, the Chapter is seeing a robust demand for new mentor requests each month. At the same time, we are fortunate to be onboarding talented young professionals eager to use their time and talents to serve the small business community as volunteer SCORE mentors. SCORE mentor Joella Gamon was first introduced to the Chapter as a SCORE client. She had a great experience working with her mentor, Kevin Saint Cyr. So when he mentioned that she would be a welcome addition to the ranks of mentors, Joella jumped at the chance to give back to a community that she was passionate about within an established network of seasoned professionals. "It seemed like the perfect fit."

Bringing Experience and Passion to the Chapter

Joella brings nearly 20 years of experience as a marketing leader and an entrepreneur to her role as a certified SCORE mentor.

"My experience is primarily within various small and mid-sized companies in manufacturing and publishing. Before heading out on my own, I held responsibility for all marketing functions, including traditional and digital marketing, websites, product management, strategy, and planning." - Joella Gamon, SCORE volunteer mentor

Joella's background places her in a unique position to offer a wide range of guidance as a resource for SCORE clients and co-mentoring opportunities within the Chapter.

"My experience in small and medium-sized companies and the start-up world provides insight into some of the unique constraints faced by small businesses regarding some of the challenges faced while driving growth with extremely limited resources and rapid change. I can empathize and share how I've approached similar circumstances. Because of my start-up experience, I've successfully been through the accelerator process, used lean start-up methodology to bring a product to market, and created a pitch deck that generated funding interest." - Joella Gamon, SCORE volunteer mentor

Giving Back to the Community

As small business communities recover, SCORE volunteer mentors play a part in helping them return as prosperous and thriving establishments in our local community. Joella is passionate about being a part of this process.

"I've found that volunteering is a simple way to meet people outside of my immediate circle. I can use my skills to make the world a little better while learning from people who may have had different experiences or think differently from me. I believe a strong community leads to growth, and giving back is an excellent way to practice gratitude for what I have been given." - Joella Gamon, SCORE volunteer mentor

The progression of onboarding has been an exciting one for Joella, and she has brought her usual energy and enthusiasm to the process.

"I've had several wonderful sessions as a co-mentor and have been truly touched and grateful for each primary mentor's time to get to know me and provide constructive advice and support. It's inspiring to see my first co-mentor client executing on the marketing strategy we discussed, and I can't wait to see how it plays out." - Joella Gamon, SCORE volunteer mentor

Joella now serves on the SCORE Chapter 16 Marketing Committee and as the lead on the Chapter ENGAGE Deployment campaign.

Joella is eager to serve with co-mentoring opportunities. She is familiar with the following:
