As the calendar turns towards a festive season, SCORE Lancaster – Lebanon mentor Jerry Glenn pays a visit to client Guy Martin, owner of The Hollinger House Bed & Breakfast. A quiet turn off Route 222 takes you down Hollinger Road and to the front door of Hollinger House, an 1860s Federal-style mansion, set in wooded grounds with charming buildings all lovingly restored.
When Guy purchased this property, it was in tremendous disrepair and required major restoration work to bring it back to the stately gem that you see today. What is hidden are the numerous renovations that were a significant increase in investment, but add so much to the comfort of a guest. The entire house has been rewired, and each room is now climate controlled for heating and cooling. There is state of the art security in every guest room, and all common areas. All of this remains discreetly hidden to preserve the stately architectural integrity of a Lancaster treasure.
"I have an Innkeeper couple that are managing the Inn for me, and it is beneficial for them to have direction in the process of Hollinger House becoming a profitable enterprise. My SCORE mentor, Jerry Glenn, has been a great asset in making that happen.” - Guy Martin, owner of The Hollinger House
The five bedrooms at the Inn are luxurious retreats, each with an exquisite unique décor. The Inn also features a library, complete with a ceiling mural by Lancaster’s own extraordinary talent, artist, and SCORE client, Freiman Stoltzfus. The other common rooms are equally breathtaking. You can enjoy the views from a wide front porch, or step down to stroll on “six acres of manicured land dotted with bright gardens, an Amish-made gazebo and a peaceful stream nestled among lush trees.”
