Meet Richard Bidgood, a volunteer mentor for SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon.

His professional background was in banking, and his most recent direct expertise centers on financing—especially evaluating, structuring, and negotiating debt. In this career, Richard has worked with many different types of businesses, therefore he has familiarity with manufacturing and wholesaling/distribution. For the past dozen years, Richard has focused exclusively on financing retirement communities in PA and OH. He has also been on several nonprofit boards and has been involved in/led a number of strategic planning and corporate governance exercises.

In Richard’s short time at SCORE, he has seen several instances of companies receiving expert advice from a mentor on a particular business problem or challenge. But, he’s also seen companies and individuals find someone to listen as they think out loud. Although this may not involved SCORE expertise, it involves SCORE experience, patience, willingness to listen, and ability to ask good questions which help entrepreneurs think through their questions and come to a solution—both of which are important.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys reading, running, and cooking. He also enjoys being the photographer in the summer on an Etruscan archaeological excavation in Tuscany, Italy! (Wow!)

Welcome, Richard!
