Our SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon volunteer mentors genuinely are the lifeblood of our organization. They make a significant commitment to giving back to their community through their work supporting our small business and nonprofit clients and guiding them on their journeys to success.
"Volunteers Do Not Necessarily Have The Time; They Just Have The Heart."
Meet SCORE mentor Ray Horan, a volunteer mentor with the Chapter since December 2021. Ray brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to assist the clients of SCORE Chapter 16. Ray earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Penn State University and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago. Ray's career includes nearly fifty years of commercial construction experience.
"I worked for Armstrong's Commercial Ceiling Division and helped build Armstrong's largest Ceiling Distribution Company. I went on to establish an Independent Manufacture Representative firm which grew to be one of the industry's largest, spread over twelve states. With this life experience, I would find it very interesting to work with start-ups and growing companies to help them build their businesses."

Making a Commitment to Chapter Leadership Roles
After his retirement, Ray heeded the call from SCORE mentors and former Armstrong associates Jerry Glenn and Tom Burgum to join the ranks of SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon. Ray felt he could make a valuable contribution to help small and medium-sized businesses begin and grow.
Like all volunteer organizations, leadership roles for the various committees are essential to the success of any SCORE Chapter. Before his first anniversary as a mentor, Ray took on the position of Education Chair, in addition to actively mentoring new clients.
The Education Committee plays a pivotal role in the mission of any SCORE Chapter. The Education Chair manages the volunteer Education Committee members and an annual calendar of workshops, webinars, and Lunch & Learns that offer free education and training on subjects relevant to our clients and our local small business community.
The Chapter is deeply grateful to Ray Horan for the level of involvement he has committed to SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon in his brief tenure thus far.
Ray is eager to serve with co-mentoring opportunities. He is familiar with the following:
