As we prepare to celebrate National Volunteer month SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon pauses to acknowledge the 70+ mentors in our Chapter who, in a variety of ways, help us meet the ever-increasing demand for client services in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Their commitment to mentorship, education, and service allows our small business and non-profit clients to survive and thrive.
Careers Beyond Retirement
Meet new SCORE mentor Catherine Weaver. She is retired from a career in human resource management and leadership development. Catherine holds a B.A. in Performance Management & Organizational Dynamics and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Immaculata University. She is also a certified leadership and talent management coach and holds various leadership development certifications. Like so many other SCORE mentors, Catherine continues an active professional life post-retirement. She serves as an adjunct with two local colleges in undergraduate and MBA programs. This work keeps her engaged and focused upon current management and leadership issues while enjoying the rewards of supporting and guiding students towards their successful degree completion.
Making an Impact in Your Second Act
Catherine is not new to the role of a volunteer. Throughout her career, she has given back to her community.
"It may sound like a cliché, but in my various volunteer experiences over the years, I have been immensely rewarded and fulfilled in helping others, sharing knowledge, and having a positive impact."
- Catherine Weaver, SCORE volunteer mentor
She is now embarking on a new and exciting role as a certified SCORE mentor. Catherine believes that working in various industries has broadened her experience and expertise in managing a small business's human elements and challenges. She brings a unique skill set to the Chapter to help our clients succeed.
"As an internal consultant, I coached and guided organizational leaders at all levels towards performance improvement, leadership effectiveness, and talent development. Understanding the challenges of leading others while focusing on business results and success is a key focus of my coaching and consultative approach. Mentoring and guiding non-traditional students in accomplishing educational and career goals have also provided me with a broader perspective of the current demands and skills necessary to succeed in today's business environment."
