Meet new SCORE mentor Jeff Eberts. As a former technology executive in the fast-paced world of IT products and services, Jeff has been involved in strategy development, business process optimization, product development, sales development and execution for both product and complex services, and people development. Jeff had a very exciting 32-year career in the high--tech industry spanning several Fortune 50 companies and several disciplines. He spent 28 of the 32 years with two computer companies: DEC (now Hewlett Packard Enterprise) and DELL Computer.
“My business career began in the Aerospace Industry in Vermont where I had roles in Operations, 6 sigma quality programs, Manufacturing Engineering and Marketing. I then entered the Computer Industry where I spent 11 years with DEC (now Hewlett Packard Enterprise) in Manufacturing Engineering/ New Product Development, and Product Sales, and then I joined DELL Computer where I spent 17 years in Global Sales, Sales Leadership and then as a Senior Executive in the Services Business. I was very fortunate and blessed to have had the opportunity to travel the world while leading global teams serving world class customers.”

After Jeff and his wife moved to Lancaster he began looking for opportunities to be of service in the community in a meaningful way.
“I have been a mentor for many years – in the Church, in the Community with At-Risk Youth, and in the Marketplace. After I retired, and my wife and I moved to Lancaster in 2014, I realized that I had a little ‘gas in the tank’ to serve in the marketplace but I wanted to use my limited time in the most effective way. I had known a bit about SCORE from when we lived in Connecticut and I had a favorable opinion of the organization. When I read Fred Engle’s LNP column in the newspaper just before Christmas 2017 where he was encouraging folks who had relevant experience to join SCORE as a Mentor, I emailed my application and in May I became a certified mentor.”

Jeff’s skills in people development, strategy setting, and process optimization have already proved to be an invaluable asset to SCORE clients. He is now a fully certified mentor and is enjoying the opportunities to engage with clients and assist in working with other mentors for their success.

As a newcomer, I am humbled to be a part of such a fine team. Secondly, I have had the honor of serving several clients to date and I have had the opportunity to be both a tactical/business mentor as well as a more holistic mentor. It has been very rewarding to have discussions about client’s dreams, vision, goals, and passion and then helping them build a step by step approach to reaching those goals.
