I can help you identify and assess potential business risks as part of a feasibility study, a startup plan, or an ongoing small business plan.
I grew up on the family dairy farm which I then managed and operated for 30 years. After much business analysis and deliberation, we made the decision to sell the dairy herd instead of assuming the strain of a major expansion in our 50’s. Since then, I manage the farm as a cash grain business with some custom raised livestock.
After the cows were sold, I built and managed an adult education program that focused primarily on dairy farm price risk management. I collaborated with other financial professionals and worked independently to demonstrate how futures markets, insurance products based on these markets, as well as other insurance vehicles can stabilize some of the volatility that is inherently part of any farm business plan.
