What do you do?

We are a mobile drug, alcohol, and background testing company. We are currently adding audiograms, pulmonary function, and respiratory fit testing to our list of services.

What inspired you to start your business?

I have always been self-motivated and love the business side of things. The first time you provide quality service and receive that feedback, you're hooked.

What's special about your business?

I believe our business stands out because we combine several services that companies seek at their location. Instead of long commutes and waiting rooms, we bring the services to them so that the employer can focus on their company. This allows employees to stay onsite, resulting in faster and more professional services.

What have been the high and low points of being a business owner?

The highs would be the pride that comes along with hard work and long hours. It's also knowing how much your business is appreciated by the customers. If any “lows” come up, I use it as a training tool to get better. I have never regretted getting into business since day one.

What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?

I had a lot of questions and found myself searching for someone willing to help. Luckily I came across the SCORE website and found a mentor in our industry. Hands down the best decision of this journey was to reach out to our mentor. I contribute most of our success to this program. The tools and knowledge are priceless at any stage of your business.

How SCORE helped.

Our mentor has been there since day one. Answering any and all questions that needed attention. Having a wealth of knowledge a call or click away has provided me with knowledge that would otherwise be learned by trial and error.

What's great about my mentor?

Tim is hands down a class act. He has shared several ideas, thoughts, and advice that have helped shape this company to what it is. His experience and approach to giving advice have been priceless.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

Research, ask questions, and LEARN. Love what you do and have a passion for it. Do not be afraid to reach out and learn from others!

What have you learned from your experiences as a business owner?

I learned to set my goals and go after them. Set them high, work as hard as you can and the good will come. I truly believe that if you have the right mindset then just about anything is possible. Each day you must work harder than anyone else in your industry.
