I am at a phase in my life and career where sharing what I have learned and experienced with others would be meaningful. In 2012, I became a business owner and together with my partner formed Northbound Brand, a brand consultancy. I have recently retired and look forward to providing guidance, inspiration, imagination and education to those who are embarking on the journey to business ownership.
It is fulfilling to help others succeed and thrilling to learn of new business ideas.
I want to improve my local economy by helping entrepreneurs and small business owners grow their organizations and achieve financial freedom.
After working in my own family owned business for the past 35 years we have recently sold it and retired. However I feel that I have more to offer the business community and hopefully aspiring new business owners. My area of expertise is in hospitality, and customer relations however, I have been involved in all aspects of our business from financial planning, marketing and activities planning. I have served on the local and national as well as regional Board of Directors for the camping industry as Secretary, President and Chairperson.
I’m in the process of selling my business and retiring. SCORE’s focus on being a resource for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and non profits aligns with my desire to share and engage my experience. I know the value of having a mentor-like resource when you feel alone and challenged running an organization.
I have spent much of my career enabling businesses for success. I would like to help others in a way that will support building a better community. If businesses grow that means more opportunity for those who might not otherwise have it.
While volunteering as a mentor for Score will give me a chance to give back to the new community I have relocated to, being a mentor for Score will also allow me to interact with current endeavours and entrepreneurs in my area and amplify my understanding of my local business scene. Finally, volunteering with Score will sharpen skills with a well structured and proven process.
