We have built a close relationship between our clients and our bookkeepers and analysts so the client can focus on sales and operations while we provide the CFO services to control costs and evaluate growth options.
Keeping up with the various economic fluctuations, hiring and bringing on the right team members, testing and building an efficient yet effective system--all have been challenging. However, in being a business owner, a significant positive is the people you meet and the connections you make. Another benefit is the direct opportunity to make a plan and watch it build into great accomplishments.
As a new business owner, I did not have much capital. SCORE mentored me for free and helped me with a plan to get started. Their vast knowledge really helped me in the beginning and has continued to help in subsequent years. In business, there will always be some question or scenario that raises issues or concerns. Having a strong network of mentors has allowed me to seek answers from them and to continue to excel.
SCORE helped me get the ball rolling. Everyone knows that starting a business most difficult. SCORE was there to help motivate, facilitate, and directly influence me in getting the first steps completed correctly.
They help you draw up an achievable plan. They are also great with following up and making sure I stayed on track and continued to hit deadlines regardless of the task.
Keep pushing even when the odds aren't in your favor, take risks, and work hard.
Sometimes when you want something badly enough, the world starts opening doors in your favor. In my case, meeting a random business owner while waiting for a food order resulted in an amazingly productive conversation. I mentioned that I was fresh in business and still had a lot to learn. He said these few words, "Go see Raj from SCORE.".
I had no idea what SCORE was. His confident directive pushed me to look into SCORE, and it was the best decision I ever made. After meeting with Raj, I was connected with Jerry.
Jerry was amazing, going far and above to help me get off the ground and actually got me connected with my first customer!
These two gentlemen have guided me, step by step through the beginning stages of my business and beyond. They continue to be amazing resources and exposed me to a fantastic network of entrepreneurs, business owners, coaches, and educators. The great thing about SCORE is everyone is willing and directly invested in making you, succeed as a person and an owner!
