I specialize in business planning, marketing planning, and financial planning for startups and growth for both, for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations. I can help you test the feasibility of a business idea or a project.
In addition to helping for-profit businesses, I also work with nonprofit organizations to help them start and grow successfully and operate effectively.
Since joining SCORE in 2003, I, along with our marketing expert, Jerry Hoffman, helped entrepreneurs successfully start coffee shops, gyms, massage and ayurvedic centers, retail businesses, fashion clothing businesses, medical spas, bakeries, and more. I can help develop a plan for online (digital media) strategy, such as websites, email and social media.
Here are major areas of expertise:
Marketing and Business Management: Functions managed included business management, marketing, production planning, customer service, performance analysis, and reporting.
Business Process Redesign: Worked on teams to develop global work processes, especially after M A; helped redesign business processes and reorganize functions. Worked on the initial implementation of SAP, an enterprise resource planning system.
Planning: Helped entrepreneurs do quick feasibility of their business idea to make a go/no-go decision. Helped them develop a believable business plan before starting their business. Helped in-business clients diagnose root causes for low growth/profitability and suggested corrective actions through better message development, marketing, and financial planning.
Nonprofit Organization - Creation and growth: Helped people identify the steps necessary to start a successful nonprofit through business planning, needs assessment, and program design. Worked with established nonprofits to review and update mission, vision, strategies; developed overarching goals and subgoals, and followed them up by creating an execution plan with measurable objectives and specific action plans.
Strategic Planning: Developed a new Planning and Execution Process. Facilitated strategic analysis of many business units in the chemical industry. Worked on several acquisitions and mergers. The work involved industry analysis to identify targets, analysis of assets, valuation of businesses, and integration of business processes, cultures, and people.
Professional Background:
I am a retired strategic planner from the Chemical and Refining industry with a Chemical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin. I am also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
