Holy Apostles College & Seminary, Missionaries of the Holy Apostles
Father Mosey, the President/Rector, observed a shift in the client base. Rather than standing by as the College lost its student population, he reached out to bring non-traditional students from overseas. These students have prospered greatly in our community, as our community has learned from them.
Although originally a full campus education service, Father Mosey has also taken advantage of the opportunities presented through distance Learning. Over the past 17 years, he has guided the organization through the development of an accredited Online Masters's Program, and, more recently, an accredited Undergraduate Program.
These innovative endeavors have helped the organization overcome adversity, contributing to sales and the community.
SCORE has been an unexpected find for us. We have appreciated the expertise of each member who has thought with us in our brainstorming sessions. Because most of our students thus far have been sent because of a Bishop’s preference or word of mouth, we had not done much in the field of marketing. SCORE opened the door for us to think about marketing, the need, and the mode.
When life already has its demands it is good to have an assignment with a due date. The regular meetings provided target dates for each step along the way. Several suggestions have been implemented. At this point, we have seen an increase in enrollment in both our graduate and undergraduate online programs.
We have appreciated the genuine concern and creative insights of each SCORE member beginning with John Fagan who brought Larry Hennessey and subsequently Andrea Tannenbaum who has been a pleasant but firm taskmaster. The last to come was Jeff Alexander whose positive attitude and minute-taking for each meeting gave us a lift when we were discouraged.
In 1952, the seminary was originally operated by the Missionaries of the Holy Apostles, an order of priests. The college division was opened in 1972. The school offered Graduate degrees to the laity in 1982. As with any business with an eye on the future, Holy Apostles College & Seminary saw shifts in its market and sought new ways to serve its target audience. That's what brought them to online graduate-level programs in 1998. Fast forward to 2016. Holy Apostles College & Seminary now provides campus and online programs for undergraduate degrees as well, as seminary students and graduate students.
