After college, I was a Nuclear Engineer in the US Navy for 7 years, leaving the service as a Lieutenant Commander. I became Director of Safeguards for a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Barnwell, SC, which eventually closed never having operated because of the political environment. Since 1984 I have been 1/2 owner of a nuclear engineering consulting firm named BE Incorporated. I am currently a Research Associate at the University of Georgia in Athens and I occasionally teach classes in the Center for International Trade and Security CITS.
