My successes.

Suzy McGrane-Hop has devoted many years of her life to working in local art and framing galleries in Cedar Rapids. Now, she manages her own business, The Gilded Pear Gallery, which is situated at 808 Third Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids. Reflecting on her past experience working for others, Suzy realized her potential to run a business and become an entrepreneur herself.

In 2011, after participating in a seminar called Business Start-Up Basics presented by SCORE East Central Iowa in a Kirkwood classroom, Suzy decided to open her business. She sought guidance from a SCORE Mentor, and John Brockardt was appointed to support her. John's assistance mainly encompassed areas like record-keeping and devising a marketing strategy. Luckily, Suzy didn't require external financing and could manage the store's working hours by herself. Recently, she has employed two staff members to assist her in managing daily tasks. Since its inception, the Gilded Pear has enjoyed remarkable growth, doubling its business in the year following its launch and then tripling it. In addition to offering exquisite pieces of art, Suzy holds the titles of Certified Appraiser of Personal Property and Certified Member of the International Society of Appraisers. She's among a select few in Iowa who are Certified Fine Art Appraisers.

The Gilded Pear offers a wide array of services, including Corporate and Private Residence art consultation, custom framing, restoration service, and even store rental for special occasions.
