Over the past 20 plus years, I have worked in, managed, grown, bought and sold my family business. I will bring a broad wealth of knowledge to you from lead generation, to human resources, to business strategies to exiting your business.

I grew up in a family run auto body shop, here in Des Moines. I played there on weekends, as my Mom and Dad caught up on paperwork. When my Mom was unable to work, I was ready to take over her responsibilities. As I worked, I found myself desiring to get more and more involved in the business. I started as an accountant, doing payables, receivables and payroll. I then took on the responsibility of an estimator. In a short period of time, I became the face of our body shop. I greeted the customers, I estimated the repair damage, I negotiated with the insurance companies, and I handed over the keys after the repairs were complete. I did all this, as well as the accounting and HR duties as needed. This experience gave me the knowledge to feel comfortable running the business, when I bought the business in 2015. I had the end in mind, so I knew I had to build up the business to be profitable and functioning without me working in it day to day. I did just that and I was then able to buy another business in 2020. We got that business up and running and then I sold both businesses to a consolidator in 2021. I have been enjoying my semi-retirement since then!

I know I don't want to get back into the workforce full-time. SCORE has given me a great opportunity to help other businesses. I was fortunate enough to have a great group of people helping me succeed. I would like to be that person for a small business owner in need.
