John Campbell of Monument Beach, MA, is currently director of WAM Systems, Inc. and a director of Constant Contact. He has more than 30 years of experience in the high-tech field. His extensive industry experience includes the co-founding of Marcam Corporation, a leading developer of ERP software, in 1980. He sits on the board of both Canopy International, an e-business service provider specializing in enterprise and business-to-business integration, and WAM Systems, Inc., a company that provides supply chain management software for the chemical industry. John is also on the advisory boards of Vanguard Solutions, Inc., Vase, Inc. and e-tractions, Inc.

Laura has more than 25 years of marketing and branding experience with firms including: Deluxe Corporation, where she was the VP of Brand, Social Media, and Customer Experience, General Mills, Ameriprise Financial, and multiple software and technology start-ups.

Nancy Strojny of Cape Elizabeth, ME is the principal of Beauty Vantage Consulting, focusing on building brands in the hospitality channel in the U.S. and the Middle East. Her broad experience includes Fortune 100 companies and business start ups. Strojny has been a Sales & Marketing Executive with Procter & Gamble, CVS, Outsourcing Services Group, and most recently Power Brands. She maintains strategic alliances with MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas. Strojny is a Certified SCORE Mentor, and the Chair of the Portland Chapter of SCORE. She was honored in March of 2012 as a White House Champion of Change for entrepreneurial mentorship. She is a member of the Maine Marketing Association and the SCORE National Advisory Board.

Fred Glave

Fred Glave, Treasurer

Fred Glave of Great Falls, VA has over 40 years experience in the telecommunications industry. Beginning in the research and development area, he successively moved through positions in engineering, marketing, general management and senior officer positions with Nortel Networks.

He founded a new venture-financed company in Silicon Valley and went on from there as a senior executive and CEO in several telecommunications enterprises.  He has had extensive experience in international marketing and been the lead initiator in several technology and corporate acquisitions or partnerships.

He is a graduate of the University of Toronto in Electrical Engineering and holds a Masters degree from MIT and a PhD from Univ. of Calif., Berkeley, all in electrical engineering.

Dr. Glave is President of the MIT Club of Washington, DC, and a member of the Advisory Board and the Executive Committee of the Washington/Baltimore MIT Enterprise Forum. He is also a volunteer tutor with the AAAS Senior Scientists and Engineers program, tutoring in eighth grade science classes.

Jovita Carranza of Skokie, IL is founder and president of The JCR Group, a consulting firm serving corporations and NGOs on issues of business development and profit and loss management. She served as the Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration from December 2006 to January 2009 and previously as vice president of air operations for UPS where she led the cutting-edge automated package processing operation.  As Vice-Chair of both The American Cancer Society Corporate Advisory Council and the Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia, Carranza helps non-profits create sustainable business models to meet the demands of their missions.  In 2004, she received the title of “Woman of the Year” by Hispanic Business Magazine.

He is currently an active investor in early-stage technology companies and is the Amazon best seller author/publisher of “The Secrets to Writing a Successful Business Plan: A Pro Shares a Step-By-Step Guide to Creating a Plan that Gets Results”. Hal is a certified and award winning SCORE mentor.

Robert E. Bard is the president and CEO of LATINA Style Inc., a position he assumed in October 2001, after the untimely passing of his spouse and business partner, Anna Maria Arias, founder, editor & publisher of LATINA Style Magazine. Ms. Arias, in her eight years at the helm of the magazine, built it up to become the most respected publication in the Latina community. An overwhelming response to Ms. Arias’ demise from the Latina and Hispanic community inspired Mr. Bard to devote his energies to keep her mission and the goals of the magazine alive. . Mr. Bard is a graduate of the California State University at Northridge and completed postgraduate studies at the University of California in Los Angeles. He is a native from Chile and is fluent in Spanish and French.

Joyce currently serves as a member of Bryce Harlow Foundation Board, Common Threads Advisory Committee; the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Corporate Advisory Committee; Johnson C. Smith University Board of Visitors; and as board member and treasurer of The Faith and Politics Institute. In 2007, Joyce founded the African-American Women on the Hill Network. Joyce graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy Studies. She completed the Leadership Development Program for Minority Managers at Johns Hopkins University and received an MBA from Johns Hopkins.

She began her career with Eastman Kodak Company, working her way up from Research Scientist to General Manager, Worldwide Film Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Through guest lectures she has shared her expertise with numerous academic institutions, including RPI and University of Michigan, as well as professional organizations including Agility Forum and IEEE.

Joan Jakel founded her law firm fourteen years ago, dedicated to her passion of advising and assisting entrepreneurs. She has served on numerous Boards, including the TruWest Credit Union, Tempe Leadership, Tempe Chamber of Commerce and the Phoenix Theater. Joan served as the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Tempe Chamber and also chaired numerous committees for the Tempe Chamber over the course of a decade. In 2004, Joan was the recipient of the Business Woman of the Year award from the Tempe Chamber.  Joan is a proud graduate of the Tempe Leadership program and her commitment to the organization resulted in serving on its board of directors and chairing its 25th Anniversary Gala Committee. She was also recognized by the Business Journal as an East Valley Business Leader in the Spotlight. Before creating her law firm, Joan served as General Counsel and Vice President of a national publishing company and worked at a boutique business law firm.

In 2015, Larry received SCORE’s Special Recognition for Highest Achievement in Job Assignment, and in 2014, he earned the Gold Member Award for Exceptional Contribution & Meritorious Service. Larry is a Board member of the Executive Coaches of Orange County, previously serving as its CEO from 2010 to 2012. He is an Advisory Board Member of Robert Errico Financial Advisors and Mentor at the University of California-Irvine School of Business. Prior to his years of volunteering, Larry was part owner of Hewitt Associates, an international consulting firm.

She gained additional experience in automotive as the VP of marketing at Mercedes-Benz and later Hyundai Motor America. More recently, she was CMO at Jacuzzi Group Worldwide and Raley's, a Northern California supermarket chain. Van Slyke has earned Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation from the International Franchise Association. Van Slyke holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California as well as an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
