John Campbell, Chairman of the Board
John Campbell of Monument Beach, MA, is currently director of WAM Systems, Inc. and a director of Constant Contact. He has more than 30 years of experience in the high-tech field. His extensive industry experience includes the co-founding of Marcam Corporation, a leading developer of ERP software, in 1980. He sits on the board of both Canopy International, an e-business service provider specializing in enterprise and business-to-business integration, and WAM Systems, Inc., a company that provides supply chain management software for the chemical industry. John is also on the advisory boards of Vanguard Solutions, Inc., Vase, Inc. and e-tractions, Inc.
Laura Radewald, Vice Chair
Laura Radewald of Minneapolis, MN is the founder and CEO of Hi-PerLocal.com, a digital marketing agency that serves franchise organizations and multi-unit chains. Prior to forming Hi-Per, Laura served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Dunn Brothers Coffee, a 90-unit regional coffee shop franchisor. Laura has more than 25 years of marketing and branding experience with firms including: Deluxe Corporation, where she was the VP of Brand, Social Media, and Customer Experience, General Mills, Ameriprise Financial, and multiple software and technology start-ups.
Nancy Strojny, Secretary
Nancy Strojny of Cape Elizabeth, ME is the principal of Beauty Vantage Consulting, focusing on building brands in the hospitality channel in the U.S. and the Middle East. Her broad experience includes Fortune 100 companies and business start ups. Strojny has been a Sales & Marketing Executive with Procter & Gamble, CVS, Outsourcing Services Group, and most recently Power Brands. She maintains strategic alliances with MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas. Strojny is a Certified SCORE Mentor, and the Chair of the Portland Chapter of SCORE. She was honored in March of 2012 as a White House Champion of Change for entrepreneurial mentorship. She is a member of the Maine Marketing Association and the SCORE National Advisory Board.
Fred Glave, Treasurer
Fred Glave of Arlington, VA has over 40 years experience in the telecommunications industry. After senior officer positions with Nortel Networks, he founded a new venture-financed company in Silicon Valley and has since held senior executive positions with several telecommunications enterprises, primarily at the CEO level. He has had extensive experience in international marketing and been the lead initiator in several technology and corporate acquisitions or partnerships.
He is a graduate of the University of Toronto in Electrical Engineering and holds a Masters degree from MIT and a PhD from Univ. of Calif., Berkeley, all in electrical engineering.
Dr Glave is a certified SCORE mentor and past president of the Washington DC chaper of SCORE. He is Past President of the MIT Club of Washington, DC, a member of the MIT Alumni Leadership Executive Forum, a volunteer docent at the Library of Congress and a volunteer tutor with the AAAS Senior Scientists and Engineers program, turoring in eighth grade science and math classes.
Jovita Carranza of Skokie, IL is founder and president of The JCR Group, a consulting firm serving corporations and NGOs on issues of business development and profit and loss management. She served as the Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration from December 2006 to January 2009 and previously as vice president of air operations for UPS where she led the cutting-edge automated package processing operation. As Vice-Chair of both The American Cancer Society Corporate Advisory Council and the Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia, Carranza helps non-profits create sustainable business models to meet the demands of their missions. In 2004, she received the title of “Woman of the Year” by Hispanic Business Magazine.
Hal Shelton is an active investor in early-stage technology companies, board member for two technology company startups, Amazon best seller author/publisher of “The Secrets to Writing a Successful Business Plan” and a certified and award winning SCORE mentor. Previously, he was a CFO and board member for NYSE/NASDAQ publicly traded companies and nonprofits. As part of these assignments, he led a major IPO and had an international posting. Hal earned a BS degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Robert E. Bard
Robert E. Bard is the president and CEO of LATINA Style Inc., a position he assumed in October 2001, after the untimely passing of his spouse and business partner, Anna Maria Arias, founder, editor & publisher of LATINA Style Magazine. Ms. Arias, in her eight years at the helm of the magazine, built it up to become the most respected publication in the Latina community. An overwhelming response to Ms. Arias’ demise from the Latina and Hispanic community inspired Mr. Bard to devote his energies to keep her mission and the goals of the magazine alive. . Mr. Bard is a graduate of the California State University at Northridge and completed postgraduate studies at the University of California in Los Angeles. He is a native from Chile and is fluent in Spanish and French.
Joyce M. Brayboy
Joyce is Vice President, Goldman Sachs Office of Government Affairs in the Washington, DC office. She joined Goldman Sachs in November 2009. Joyce currently serves as a member of Bryce Harlow Foundation Board, Common Threads Advisory Committee; the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Corporate Advisory Committee; Johnson C. Smith University Board of Visitors; and as board member and treasurer of The Faith and Politics Institute. In 2007, Joyce founded the African-American Women on the Hill Network. Joyce graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy Studies. She completed the Leadership Development Program for Minority Managers at Johns Hopkins University and received an MBA from Johns Hopkins.
James Capolongo is the Senior Vice President & Head of Retail Deposit Products and Pricing for TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank. In this role, James is responsible for more than 8 million customer accounts generating more than 30% of the TD Bank's revenue, while helping TD customers meet their banking needs.
James joined TD Bank in 2012 as the US Consumer Bank CFO. He served in this capacity for three years, leading finance responsibilities for the largest individual business unit in the bank. Prior to TD Bank, James spent more than 10 years across several top 10 US Financial Institutions leading corporate and retail strategy groups. Throughout his career, James has worked on $10 billion of mergers and acquisitions, $10 billion capital raising and several hundred branch openings and closings.
Tim Carroll of Minneapolis, MN is the Vice President of Small Business Marketing at Deluxe Corporation. As a seasoned marketing leader with over 20 years of general management experience in B2C and B2B markets, he has expertise in growing online audiences, generating leads and sales, and driving customer retention and loyalty via SEO/SEM, email marketing & CRM, UI/UX, e-commerce merchandising and web analytics. Prior to Deluxe, Carroll was SVP and General Manager at North American Membership Group.
Susan E. Hartman of Evergreen, CO is President of The Hartman Group. Sue has over 30 years of diversified experience in strategic planning, business management, organizational design, mergers and acquisitions, operations and international business development. She began her career with Eastman Kodak Company, working her way up from Research Scientist to General Manager, Worldwide Film Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Through guest lectures she has shared her expertise with numerous academic institutions, including RPI and University of Michigan, as well as professional organizations including Agility Forum and IEEE.
Mary Landry, Rear Admiral (Ret) of Belmont, MA currently serves as a Director of the United Services Automobile Association (USAA). USAA is a Fortune 125 company serving over 11,000 military members and their families with highly competitive property and casualty insurance, banking, and financial services. Rear Admiral Landry has over 35 years with the government including service on the White House National Security Council as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Resilience Policy, and active duty in the United States Coast Guard. Rear Admiral Landry served in many assignments across the country including Commander of the Eight Coast Guard District, where she oversaw Coast Guard operations for a 26 State region with over 9,000 active, reserve, civilian, and auxiliary personnel under her command and an assignment as Director of Governmental and Public Affairs at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC.
Nigel Stephens of Beltsville, MD is the Senior Manager for Federal Government Relations at Accenture Federal Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Accenture LLP, where he manages the legislative and policy portfolio for the Civilian and Public Safety business groups. Prior to joining Accenture, he served in both the U.S. House and Senate in various roles, including: Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Professional Staff on the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship for Senator John Kerry (D-MA), and Legislative Assistant for former Congressman Albert Wynn (D-MD). In addition to his tenure on Capitol Hill, he has served as the Manager of Government Relations for the AIDS Action Foundation and as a Government Relations Specialist for COMSAT Corporation.
Larry Tucker of Orange County, California, has been a SCORE volunteer for nine years. He has served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Orange County Chapter and Chairman of their CEO Forum Program. In 2015, Larry received SCORE’s Special Recognition for Highest Achievement in Job Assignment, and in 2014, he earned the Gold Member Award for Exceptional Contribution & Meritorious Service. Larry is a Board member of the Executive Coaches of Orange County, previously serving as its CEO from 2010 to 2012. He is an Advisory Board Member of Robert Errico Financial Advisors and Mentor at the University of California-Irvine School of Business. Prior to his years of volunteering, Larry was part owner of Hewitt Associates, an international consulting firm.
Michelle Van Slyke
Michelle Van Slyke is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for The UPS Store, Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of UPS which provides print and small business solutions to entrepreneurs and small business owners at 4,500 franchise locations across the U.S. After joining the company in 2010, Van Slyke led a brand repositioning to focus on better serving the core customer of The UPS Store, small business owners. She continues to champion this positioning through ongoing development of products and services to best support the needs of small business.
No stranger to small business herself, VanSlyke began working at her parents’ gas station at age 10. Discovering her love of business at an early age led her to pursue a marketing career that included roles in corporate advertising for Ford Motor Company, followed by leadership roles as Vice President of Marketing for Jaguar North America, Mercedes-Benz USA and Hyundai Motor America. VanSlyke currently serves on the Board of Directors for the SCORE Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Southern California as well as a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Ronald D. Weiss
Ron Weiss of Nashua, NH has been a SCORE volunteer since 1998 and the past District Director of New Hampshire SCORE. He is a SCORE-certified mentor, a past Chapter President of Merrimack Valley SCORE, the current Assistant NH Director and a current member of Score’s National Advisory Council. He is also the CEO/CTO of ARkival Technology Corporation, a leading technology company in the field of magnetics and cancer research. He holds several degrees in Physics and has been CEO of several High Technology startups, companies that include an IPO and a leveraged buyout.
